Grant boost for sub's charity website

Yorkshire Evening Post sub-editor Liz Carnell is celebrating a £10,000 government grant for her charity Bullying Online.

The money will be used to pay running costs for the charity at www.bullying.co.uk which is gearing itself up for the new school term.

She said: “The grant is fantastic news because the DfES has recognised the help we’re giving thousands of parents and children and that the innovative hi-tech way we work is effective.

“We don’t have to pay salaries or for expensive offices, using an IPAQ personal digital assistant means our headquarters are wherever I can get a signal on my mobile phone.”

Bullying Online has recently finished a campaign with the News of the World, is involved in one with Radio City in Liverpool and will be providing input for another with the Yorkshire Evening Post shortly. The Radio City campaign is backed by soccer stars Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen.

Colleagues on other newspapers who want help to run anti-bullying campaigns for the beginning of the school year can contact Liz on [email protected] or on 07946 610535.
