Giving a good impresssion

Page impressions for This Is Essex have topped the 750,000 mark for January.

The breakthrough for the website, which takes news from 22 evening and weekly newspapers in the area, makes it one of the busiest in Essex.

You can even see the team at work, courtesy of its office cam.

It is a joint venture between Northcliffe Newspapers and Newsquest, and won the BT Premier Award at the 2000 Newspaper Awards.

Web editor Simon Leek said: “The monthly total equates to about 75,000 visitors, making it possibly the busiest Essex site on the net.

“I am delighted with the continued success of our ever-growing site. With more and more visitors coming to the site we are clearly doing something right.”

Other sites under the This Is Essex umbrella include the Beehive pages, for voluntary organisations, and a dedicated site for local commerce, Business In Essex.

This Is Essex is also starting to roll out a series of town websites.

This Is Chelmsford is already live and other town sites, including Colchester and Southend, are to follow.

The work is carried out by a team of 14, whose tasks stretch from editorial and sales to management and design.
