Garden duo bid for TV stardom

A green-fingered duo who write weekly gardening tips for two South West newspapers are making a bid for TV stardom.

Bob Purnell and Nigel North, whose column appears in the Bristol Evening Post and Western Daily Press, have already helped to transform the gardens of several celebrities.

Now the pair, known as the Garden Guys, are planning their own TV show.

Bob said: “We are working with a production company at the moment. Both Nigel and I believe that people are still frightened of their gardens.

“There are programmes like Ground Force which appeal to people who have no gardening knowledge and then there’s Gardener’s World for people with a keen interest in gardening.

“We are looking to do something in between.”

TV presenter Matthew Kelly, newsreader Peter Sissons and Casualty actor Ian Kelsey are among the stars whose gardens Bob and Nigel have already worked their magic on.
