Former Wales reporterdies abroad

A former journalist and motoring enthusiast from South Wales has died of a sudden heart attack in Dubai.

Mike Williams, (56), started in journalism as a junior reporter with the Carmarthen Journal before becoming a reporter with the Herald of Wales and motoring correspondent of the South Wales Evening Post.

He was also employed by the Western Mail and was a former editor of the Ammanford Guardian.

Mr Williams worked as a freelance journalist for several years and helped launch West Wales Life magazine.

He followed his love of motoring to work in public relations at Ford and General Motors Vauxhall before becoming general manager of G K Design in Dunstable promoting General Motors 4×4 vehicles.

From 1997 he headed the United Arab Emirates division based in Dubai.
