Former Post editor joins tourism media group

Former regional newspaper editor Nigel Hastilow has been appointed editorial director of the tourism, leisure and lifestyle publishing company Heart Media Group Ltd.

The journalist, formerly editor of the Birmingham Post, will be working alongside sales director John Keane, also formerly of the Post & Mail, where he was advertising manager.

Nigel has spent much of his working life at the Post & Mail but found time out to stand as a Conservative candidate at the last General Election.

Nigel’s career began as a trainee at the Solihull News, before a move to the Evening Mail, where he covered crime, then education and social services. He had a spell in the marketing department before moving to Westminster as political correspondent for the Birmingham Post for three years. He returned to Birmingham as deputy editor before becoming editor.

Titles published by Heart Media Group on behalf of Visit Heart of England include The Heart of England Magazine, which was launched on Valentine’s Day, 2002, as a quarterly publication. It is distributed to hotels, attractions, airports and tourist information centres.
