'Fat Boy' title for sports editor

A sports editor is celebrating losing 17 per cent of his body weight in a slimming challenge with his colleagues.

Andy Bash, from the Norfolk Weeklies series of newspapers, is 2.7st lighter and has been named Norwich Fat Boy 2001.

He’s also scooped a £1,900 cash pot for his hard work beating 18 other contenders.

He put his success down to life on the treadmill and said: “I bought a treadmill and spent 22 minutes exactly on it every morning.

“During the day I would just eat celery which I am told uses up more calories than is actually in the food itself.”

Norwich sales information analyst Todd Sullivan came second, losing almost 16 per cent of his body weight… down to 15.4st.

But the booby prize went to sales co-ordinator Ali Garrod who lost exactly nothing and sales director Stephan Phillips who actually put on weight.
