Belper News editor Adrian Farmer has had his first book published.

The Spirit of Belper, published by Landmark Publishing, tells the 20th century history of the town and features more than 400 pictures, many of which have never been published before.

Adrian and his co-compiler James Allsopp launched the book at a special gathering where 300 people gathered to have their copies of the book signed.

Adrian and James were delighted with the success of the launch.

Adrian said: “It was a wonderful night, and it all went very well. We were delighted with the warm response from all the people at the event.

“Writing the book was a lot of work but it was very enjoyable and I have learned a lot about the town.

“We have tried to concentrate on the people of Belper rather than just the streets and buildings, so there’s a good chance that most Belper readers will be in it or know someone who features in it.”
