Stuart Rawlins, who has edited the Essex Chronicle since 1993, has been awarded an honorary Masters of Arts degree by Anglia Polytechnic University.

The honour was in recognition of his involvement in the community and the strong links between his newspaper and the University, which is based in Chelmsford.

Mr Rawlins said he was happy to accept the award on behalf of the newspaper, and said it reflected the leading role which the Chronicle – the UK’s biggest-selling regional weekly – has in its community.
