Echo provides new Imps chairman

A football fan who got a seat on the board thanks to a Lincolnshire Echo campaign has been elected chairman in his first season on the board at Lincoln City.

Rob Bradley, the fans’ representative, was put in temporary charge of the club when the chairman resigned.

He made the board when the Echo ran the Call Yourself a Fan campaign last year to raise money for the club – which has mounting debts – and give fans a say in the way it is run.

Five hundred people stumped up £30 each and the supporters were duly given a seat on the board.

Echo editor Mike Sassi said: “Last week, the club chairman resigned and put his controlling shares into a trust which is up for sale.

“The following day, the board met to elect a new chairman and they put Rob in temporary charge of the club!

“First thing he did was to thank Echo readers for putting him in post and pledge that he would do his best for city and newspaper!”

John Reames was one of football’s longest serving chairman, and quit on Thursday after struggling to bring fresh investment to the Sincil Bank outfit.

City are currently 20th in Division Three but Bradley’s input must be doing some good – they beat Bracknell 4-0 in the FA Cup at the weekend to progress to the next round.
