Crawford on Clydebank:ABC news

At the top of the table for paid-for weekly circulation growth was the Clydebank Post, which boosted sales by a massive 13.9 per cent to 9,672.

Editor Graham Crawford said: “This is the second year in a row we have finished top – and considering the momentum we have achieved there is no reason why we can’t make it three years next year.

“The growth of the paper had been phenomenal. For example our edition on December 22 of last year had sales of 10,700 nearly 4,000 up on the year before, at a time of year when newspaper sales usually fall.

“I have also spent a lot of time with our inexperienced reporters, reading all their copy and correcting them, so they obtain a higher standard of writing.

“We have four highly-motivated reporters here now who work remarkably well as a team to produce a quality edition each week.

“Clydebank is a very good news area and the people have an big appetite for hard news stories which we fulfill.

“We now produce a 36-page edition, with over 60 news stories as opposed to the 30-odd when I took over.”
