Commitment shown by news office project

Press and Journal editor Derek Tucker says its new Highland office shows the paper’s commitment to the area.

The new base for Inverness has opened for business on the outskirts of the city.

A purpose-built building in the new Stoneyfield business park has become the centre of the P&J’s Highland operation, replacing the offices in Academy Street, Inverness, which have been open for 27 years.

The P&J’s Inverness operation includes reporters, sub-editors, photographers and secretarial support.

There are also staff in advertising, newspaper sales and promotions. Nearly 40 staff have now made the move.

Derek said: “The new office is a major commitment by us to the Highlands, which we see as an essential component of the business.”

The office is spread across two floors. Advertising and newspaper-sales staff occupy the ground floor and reception area and editorial is on the first floor.
