Cherie Blair has made a special request for a copy of The NorthernEcho’s General Election edition front page.

The request from the Prime Minister’s wife was made to political editorChris Lloyd through Mr Blair’s office.

The PM’s local newspaper heralded his second electionlandslide with the headline “Time To Deliver”.

The paper said the Labour adminsitration had to use its second term to start delivering its promises on public services.

A specially-framed copy of The Northern Echo’s front page, publishedwhen Mr Blair was first elected to Number 10, was presented to him whenhe visited the Darlington headquarters of the paper shortly before theelection.

It is understood that his wife wanted the 2001 election front page from Echo to make a pair.
