Chance to quiz working reporter in live chat session

Wannabe journalists are being offered the chance to put questions to a real-life reporter.

Derby Evening Telegraph reporter Suzanne Harrop is to take part in a live web chat as part of the ‘Hot Seat Chat’ sessions run by headlinehistory.co.uk – which brings history to life via a series of online newspapers.

Anyone with a burning question about life on a newspaper or how to become a reporter can log on to the site and submit their query ahead of the chat next Monday, or live on the night.

The experienced journalist, who has also worked for the Burton Mail, will then join the Headline History team to answer as many questions as she can.

The chat will begin at 6.30pm on September 18 and run for half-an-hour.

Suzanne will be the fifth guest to take part in the educational website’s ‘Hot Seat Chat’ sessions, which have previously featured characters such as ‘Charles Dickens’, ‘Emperor Nero’ and ‘Shakespeare’.

The site is aimed at seven to 14-year-olds and allows them to learn about events from Victorian, Roman, World War Two and Tudor times in a virtual newspaper setting – and even become reporters themselves.

However the chat sessions are open to a wider audience and following the live session a full transcript will be published on the website.
