Mansfield Chad readers were able to listen to the results of the town’s mayoral election as the paper ventured into the world of online audio reporting for the first time.

A team from the paper worked through the night to ensure the result was on its website mansfieldtoday.co.uk as soon as it was known, and coverage included six audio links.

This included clips of the announcement that Tony Egginton had won a second term as mayor of Mansfield, his victory speech and Labour MP Alan Meale speaking of his disappointment at his defeat.

Politics reporter Tom Pegg was also able to grab interviews with both men which were then available online less than two hours after the 4am announcement.
