Cash boost for life-saving scheme

A medical First Responder scheme has had its funds boosted by the Market Rasen Mail.

The newspaper handed over a cheque for £50 to Peggy Hartle, who launched the scheme a few weeks ago.

Editor of the Market Rasen Mail, Charles Ladbrook, said: “I am delighted to support this scheme which could help save lives in the town.”

The scheme trains volunteers to give first aid to those with life-threatning conditions in the minutes before an ambulance can arrive.

Volunteers are also trained to use a defibrillator machine, which restarts the heart and can save the lives of heart attack victims.

Since the LIVES First Responders scheme for Market Rasen was announced in the Mail, 17 volunteers interested in being trained, have come forward.

The newspaper is offering to print the name of any businesses giving money toward the scheme.
