Plea for private input into paper's green campaign

Phase II of the Greener, Cleaner Northampton initiative has been kick-started by the Chronicle & Echo.

The paper is inviting businesses in the private sector to join local authorities and the public in cleaning areas of the town that suffer from graffiti, litter and fly-tipping.

Since last spring, when the initiative was launched, communities have organized clean-ups with the help of the borough council to bring their local areas back to how they would like to see them.

Chronicle & Echo editor Mark Edwards said: “The Greener, Cleaner campaign arose out of the feedback from our readers and we have had massive support so far.

“Now we are hoping that the commercial sector will also support the efforts being made to tackle issues highlighted by our readers and Northampton’s taxpayers.”

The new phase will focus on community champions and focus on the role businesses can play.
