Losses lessened afterExpress plea

When Kentish Express reporter Mike Bennett heard that urgent action wasneeded to help the award-winning Rare Breeds Centre in Woodchurch, nearAshford, he immediately contacted the KM Group’s directors.

The centre, which helps protect rare breed farm animals, has been unable to open because of foot and mouth disease fears and has been forced to launch a public appeal for assistance.

The KM kicked off the appeal with a £2,000 donation.

The centre faces a loss of £10,000 a week on the revenue normally taken during summer.

The money supports what has developed into a major tourist attraction and provides jobs for dozens of disabled people through the Canterbury Oast Trust Charity.

Kentish Express editor Brian Lewis said: “Now we hope that others will follow the KM’s example to help the survival of this unique farm enterprise.”
