Kerb crawlers named in print

A local newspaper name-and-shame campaign to identify kerb crawlers who come before the courts has been praised by police.

They spoke up after seven men were fined a total £2,260 by Manchester magistrates for soliciting from their vehicles.

The men included an accountant, kitchen porter and insurance rep – who were all named in the Manchester Evening News.

Police have praised the newspaper for supporting the magistrates’ campaign to help reduce the number of cases being brought to court.
