Jeff Chef strikes a chord

Support for the Western Morning News Buy Local campaign is flooding in as it enters its third month.

Hundreds of shops, pubs, schools and cafes are showing their support by displaying the paper’s special Jeff Chef stickers and posters letting people know that their food is locally sourced and produced.

South East Cornwall MP Colin Breed said: “The campaign is proving a great success. Jeff Chef stickers are springing up everywhere, and there is a real sense of everyone pulling together to encourage buying and eating local produce.”

The push has claimed support from a number of top chefs and politicians including the deputy chairman of the South West Regional Development Agency Jeremy Pope.

He said: “It is very clear that the Buy Local campaign has struck a chord with so many people across the South West, all wanting to do their bit for a healthier rural economy.

“Far from being just fuel, food and drink are the lifeblood of our regional economy and a vital component of a more prosperous future.”
