The Grimsby Telegraph has marked the first anniversary of its Axe The Toll On Health campaign by pulling a Cleethorpes heart patient through the Humber Bridge tolls on a hospital bed.
The paper is demanding free Humber Bridge crossings for the growing number of Grimsby area patients needing hospital treatment on the North Bank.
It says people are financially penalised by the geographical boundaries of the NHS through no fault of their own.

Patient Brian Teanby, who lives in Cleethorpes and is treated in Hull and said: “I do not think it is fair that people should have to pay tolls through no fault of their own. We do not ask to be ill. The NHS is supposed to be free.”
Grimsby Telegraph Editor Michelle Lalor added: “While everybody has supported the campaign nobody has taken responsibility.”
