A £1.5m appeal by the Yorkshire Post has reached its halfway point.
The Hidden Disability campaign will raise renovation funds for the Robert Ogden School, at Thurnsloe, near Barnsley, a school for autism.
The priority was to rebuild the roof, at an estimated £190,000, and that has been completed along with a design technology area, fitness and sensory areas, and a food technology room.
A spokesman said the area had improved from being “dilapidated”, but more work still needed to be done.
