Garden Angels are go!

The Nottingham Evening Post’s Garden Angels campaign got off to a flying start this week when strimmers burst into life in a campaign to help people recover from brain injuries.

The project will transform former allotments in Nottingham into a garden for head injury survivors.

It was launched just six weeks ago, when the Post teamed up with the Headway House day centre to challenge the people and firms of Nottingham help out.

The national Headway charity, which received support from Princess Diana, provides rehabilitation and support for survivors of traumatic head injuries and their families. It was started in Nottingham in 1979 by a group of carers of brain injury sufferers who were surprised by the lack of support available at the time.

The response to the cry for help has proved phenomenal, from individuals offering their time and energy to companies offering products and expertise worth thousands of pounds.

Evening Post editor Graham Glen said: “I’m sure everyone who is contributing to this worthwhile project will be as excited as we are to see work beginning on the site.”

The garden should be completed in early spring.
