Daily Echo forges links

A new partnership between the police and Bournemouth council has been created after a high-profile clean-up campaign in the Daily Echo.

The campaign highlighted the problem of abandoned cars and, thanks to the paper, burnt-out wrecks and cars dumped in dangerous places will now be moved within 24 hours .

Other vehicles confirmed as abandoned, and left on the streets, will be moved within a maximum period of seven days.

Police Inspector Andy Earley said: “”The Echo campaign over this issue drew added concern over dumped cars from the council and the police who have always worked together.”

The Daily Echo’s campaign against abandoned cars began almost a year ago and provoked a massive response across the county with readers flooding the newspaper offices with calls reporting dumped cars.
