Pop star Billie Piper has become the latest celebrity to add her support to the Bristol Evening Post’s ClubSafe campaign.

Fresh from her performance at Smash Hits Poll Winner’s party the 18-year-old from Swindon told the newspaper that she believed its initiative could save lives.

ClubSafe is a really great idea,” she said. “Hopefully it will help reduce the nasty incidents that can happen and keep people out of danger.

“I have walked home from clubs but never on my own. I’ve got a great group of really trustworthy friends and we all look out for each other and make sure we don’t put each other in that situation.

“You’ve got to keep your common sense about it and don’t take risks. No-one should be put in danger for going out to have a good time and ClubSafe is like a safety net.

“I’m sure it’ll be a big success and I hope it spreads out around the country.”

ClubSafe was launched in August following the murders, within three years of one another, of Louise Smith, 18, and Jenny King, 22, as they walked home alone from nightclubs in Yate and Kingswood.
