Arrows to hit home

A Lincolnshire Echo campaign to bring the Red Arrows back to their spiritual home at RAF Scampton is nearing its conclusion.

The aerobatic display team has named the date it will return to the air base north of Lincoln.

Scampton is also the former home of the Dambusters squadron.

The Red Arrows have been stationed at RAF Cranwell, some 18 miles south of Lincoln, since 1995 but will return to their old home on December 21, according to an announcement from armed forces minister John Spellar.

The Echo has campaigned long and hard with support from its readers to “Bring Them Back to Scampton”.

A final training sortie will be carried out at Cranwell before the team finally returns to Scampton.
