The North Devon Gazette and Advertiser has been awarded a certificate from the RSPCA at its annual meeting and presentation night.

The certificate was handed over in recognition of the regular publicity and support of the branch’s Animal Ark Appeal.

The North Devon Gazette and Advertiser was honoured with a special certificate of recognition.

The Animal Ark Appeal was set up last year to provide a much-needed local animal rescue centre.

During the first year the Animal Ark Appeal has raised £40,000.

“The large amount of money raised was in no small way due to the newspaper,” said the branch chairman Val Pounds.
