100 new businesses

One hundred new businesses are set to be created across northern Lincolnshire thanks to a major new initiative from the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph.

Business Challenge 2002 is being run in conjunction with the local business centre to encourage would-be entrepreneurs to step forward and realise their dream.

The Telegraph and the South Humber Business Advice Centre have promised to listen to every idea – then set new businesses off in the right direction.

The Telegraph will give new ventures the publicity they need, including free start adverts in both the Evening Telegraph and free Target newspaper series.

Telegraph editor Michelle Lalor said: “As North Lincolnshire grows and develops, we want its people to do the same.

“There are a whole host of opportunities out there and if the Telegraph can help people realise their own opportunities and dreams then 2002 will have been a worthwhile year.”

The message was that being self-employed did not mean going it alone – with the help of the new initiative firms can get back up for all aspects of their business, including starter units at industrial estates in the town.
