Boost for Bolton:ABC news

Among the good news in the newly-published ABC figures was a rise of 1.26 per cent for the Bolton Evening News, which now enjoys a circulation of 41,073.

Evening News editor Mark Rossiter said: “We are absolutely delighted. The growth of the paper is down to a number of improvements we have made over the last year.

“We have concentrated on producing a top-quality supplement each evening, covering a variety of areas.

“Our eight-page Wanderer football supplement on a Monday has been a great success, particular as Bolton are doing so well this season.

“This has been joined by a 16-page amateur football edition which comes with Tuesday’s paper and covers all amateur football from kids to seniors in Bolton.

“This is all part of our target to make the paper more community-based and our reporters have strengthened their links in the various patches to do this.

“Our sales team has also secured lots more readers through the Direct Deliveries service, which guarantees an edition will be in a household six days a week.

“But let’s not forget also that Bolton is a very newsy town and has provided us with a good run of stories.

“We have also followed papers like the Ipswich Star’s lead and gone on the campaign trail with a number of controversial ‘law and order’ front pages.

“And we have had a lot of praise from local MPs in our assistance with this fight against crime.”
