Boogie down for the bone scanner appeal

The Worksop Guardian has continued its support for a local charity by helping out at a night of retro fun.

The Guardian was represented at a 70s themed disco to raise money for a DEXA bone scanner for nearby Bassetlaw hospital.

The disco, featuring music by Abba, Gloria Gaynor and The Real Thing, was held at a local pub and raised £1,300 for the charity.

So far the appeal has raised enough money to buy the scanner itself. Any money donated now will go towards hidden extras such as changing facilities and equipment.

Support has also come from the Worksop Women’s Licensed Victuallers who held a charity golf day. The event raised £300 and the cheque was handed over to Guardian editor George Robinson.

Now the Guardian has urged anyone who is thinking of holding a fund-raising event for the charity to contact the newsroom. The paper has pledged to help organise and promote any such event.
