Be editor for a day

The chance to become editor for a day at the Liverpool Echo has produced a huge response from readers.

The paper has launched the search for someone to take over the hot seat on March 8, International Women’s Day.

Scores of women have applied – and the judges are promising that every one will be considered for the post.

Kerry Smith wrote: “My love for the city of Liverpool has caused me to jump to its defence on many occasions. Yet at the same time I am not blinded by its faults.

“I would like to address issues which face all people on Merseyside.

“I would relish the challenge of occupying the hotseat for a day and would be proud to be a part of the Echo’s history.”

Dorothy Bodey wrote: “I am 64 years old and work part-time as a locum pharmacist.

“In my younger days there were many jobs considered to be for men only although my parents brought me up to think anything was possible if I worked hard.

“The Echo has been part of my life for over half a century. So forget that I look (and am) 64 and give me the chance to contribute on the grand scale.”
