Archant restructures weeklies stable

The Archant purchase of 27 weekly newspapers from Independent News & Media has been integrated into the company with the creation of three new divisions.

Archant London will within it Archant Greater London, home of the 27 new titles, Archant North London, which will comprise the Ham & High series, and Archant East London & Essex, comprising the Ilford-based recorder series.

Archant Regional managing director Nigel Websper said: “We have tremendous opportunities to grow and develop this business, as well as fully integrate Archant’s most expensive acquisition.”

The second new division is Archant Scotland, which will be made up of Archant Central Scotland based in Glasgow and Archant North East Scotland, based in Peterhead.

Archant Scotland MD Neville Keithley: “This is a great opportunity to make the best use of the talent across both businesses and a platform on which to build greater returns from the Scottish businesses.”

The third new division is Archant South West, which comprises the former Archant Devon (based in Exeter) and Archant Somerset (based in Weston-super-Mare).

Archant Hertfordshire and Archant Suffolk will also be slightly reorganised as part of the major restructure.
