Archant launches 'unique' property website

Archant has launched a new property website with a unique revenue model based on charging estate agents only when viewings are arranged through the site.

Homes24.co.uk has been launched across Norfolk and will subsequently be rolled out across Archant’s areas of operation.

Archant Regional development director Stephan Phillips said: “Our unique charging system, which only kicks in when viewings are arranged through the site, sets us apart from all our competitors. On average it takes just 11 viewings to sell a property and we are taking all the risk from the estate agents.”

The site is part of Archant’s broader digital development strategy that will mean new websites and business models are introduced in the coming months in motors and jobs classified advertising.

The new digital strategy will also see new developments in how Archant delivers news, editorial and content to its customers online.

Associated Northcliffe Digital has appointed Annabel Hembry as its first head of mobile.

The role, which has been created to further develop AN Digital’s content-to-mobile strategy, will see Annabel responsible for developing revenue generating content-to-mobile products and services for AN Digital sites and positioning these with advertisers and agencies.

She will also work with individual AN Digital divisions to help develop content-to-mobile knowledge and skills across the business.

The Plymouth Evening Herald has claimed it has become the first media organisation in the world to use a head mounted camera to produce news footage.

Defence reporter Tristan Nichols took a camera to West Africa for a four-day Royal Navy-organised trip to see Plymouth servicemen and women training in Sierra Leone.

Neil Shaw, web editor of thisisplymouth.co.uk, said: “The results are fantastic, and are part of a wholesale revamp of the site which has included adding audio generated by reporters, adding blogs written by city people including sailor Conrad Humphreys and baler DeAntoine Beasley, adding content 24-hours a day, seven days a week, increasing the number of pictures on the site and more.”
