A £250 donation from the Brighton Evening Argus appeal has helped some youngsters kick their old footy equipment into touch.

Hove YMCA teaches children aged ten to 16, and needed some new footballs, training bibs and slalom cones.

The Argus reported that coach Tony Kybett put a bid into the appeal’s trustees and was delighted with the cash donation.

The club had been forced to train youngsters with equipment that was years old.

He said: “Donations from organisations like the Argus are always welcome.”

The appeal is going from strength to strength this year, raising £34,000 in the first week, which included a gala spectacular this week with celebrity guests Joe McGann, Bert Kwouk and Dora Bryan.
