Any Questions for a man from the Newham Recorder?

A press man was on the panel for a borough Any Questions? session in Newham this week.

Tom Duncan, former Recorder Newspapers Group Editor and now a columnist on the Newham Recorder, was one of the people in the firing line for questions from the audience.

The BBC news presenter John Humphrys was chairman for the event and managed to keep both the audience and the panel in order.

Under discussion were key issues on crime, health and council policy, which were aired in the borough-wide event.

The liveliest talking point, in a week dominated by the terrorist atrocities in America, still proved to be a good local tale.

Locals were most worried about the regeneration of Canning Town, which would affect some 1,900 homes, and the fears of residents of a community that would be broken up in the upheaval.

Other panelists included the council leader, local police chief, health and business chiefs and a spokesman on youth issues.
