150th celebrations for biggest Welsh weekly

The Western Telegraph – the biggest selling weekly in Wales – has celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Special events are planned throughout the year, which kicked off with a 40-page special supplement this week.

It highlighted some of the best news stories the Newsquest-owned paper has covered in the last century and a half.

The paper plans to feature some of its top stories and favourite pictures in special sections throughout the year.

The Western Telegraph will also link up with long-time charity partner the Cystic Fibrosis Trust Pembrokeshire branch to revive its famous pram push around the streets of the county town of Haverfordwest.

It will also be sponsoring a special anniversary classic car run across the county in September.

Later in the year youngsters will be participating in a schools’ history competition.

The anniversary celebrations have also been given a royal seal of approval with a letter from HM the Queen, congratulating the staff, editor and management on the paper’s 150th anniversary.

Staff and specially invited guests also enjoyed an anniversary ball.
