Peter's surprise honour

Nottingham Evening Post photojournalist Peter Jordan has received a surprise award.

In recognition of his journalistic work in the community, Peter was presented with the vocational service cup from the Rotary Club of Wollaton Park, during its end-of-year dinner.

Peter, an Evening Post and Neighbourhood News correspondent, thought he was attending the function to cover a story for the newspaper.

But when he arrived he was told to put down his camera and notebook so that he could accept the award and a framed certificate.

Congratulating Peter, the vocational service committee chairman Lionel Howard said: “Mr Jordan is a fine ambassador for the Evening Post, who, during a 42-year unbroken attachment with the newspaper, has shown his merits.

“The Rotary Club of Wollaton Park considered Peter to be a worthy recipient of this prestigious award, which recognises his work in the community as a photojournalist.

“We regard him as someone who takes pride in what he does and nothing pleases him more than being able to put local people and organisations on the map through the medium of the newspaper, which he says is second to none.”
