The first set of BT Media Award nominations have been announced, with the waiting now over for all entrants in the competition’s Midlands region.

Among those on the shortlist are staff from the Nottingham Evening Post, Leicester Mercury, Birmingham Evening Mail, Derbyshire Times, Shropshire Star and the Sunday Mercury.

A host of other daily and weekly papers will also be vying for the top prizes.

The winners will be announced at the regional finals at the Birmingham International Convention Centre, on Thursday, March 21.
