Courier's Trisha is named Kent Journalist of the Year

Kent & Sussex Courier chief reporter Trisha Fermor has been named Kent Journalist of the Year.

The journalist scooped the top honour at this year’s Shepherd Neame Kent Journalist of the Year Awards where the best of the county’s journalists attended a presentation lunch at the Kent brewer’s medieval reception centre in Faversham.

Judges praised Trisha’s “measured professionalism” when covering news stories and described her features as “informed, entertaining and very, very well written”.

Other winners included Sinead Hanna, a trainee on the Folkestone Herald, who was named Kent Young Journalist of the Year, and Jo Hernon from the Kent Messenger Group, who was named Kent Sports Journalist of the Year.

The Kent Campaign of the Year award was won by News Shopper editor Andrew Parkes for his successful battle to rescue Biggin Hill Air Fair, which had been threatened because of a lack of sponsors.
