BT Awards website launched

A new website dedicated to the BT Media Awards has today been launched by the publishers of www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk.

Managed by Northcliffe Electronic Publishing (Midlands), the site has been published on behalf of BT.

www.bt.com/mediacentre/awards allows local and regional journalists, broadcasters and photographers to enter the contest online, or if they prefer, download an entry form from the site.

It includes everything entrants will need to know, such as details of the competition’s fourteen categories and its seven regional areas, which this year, have been re-defined.

It takes a look back at the awards for 1999 and includes a complete list of the regional and national winners from last year’s awards as well as all the national winners for the past five years.

As the site develops entrants will be able to keep up with all the latest awards news, view winning entries from previous years, catch up with the careers of some of the previous winners and get tips from the judges on how to compile an entry.

“We’re delighted to be working with BT on their prestigious Press and Media Awards this year,” said Keith Perch, Regional New Media Director for Northcliffe Electronic Publishing.

“We hope to bring our publishing experience to bear on the website and increase awareness of, and participation in, the awards themselves.”

This is the sixth year that BT has sponsored the UK-wide award scheme, which received more than 2,500 entries last year.

The closing date for this year’s competition is Friday, January 19, 2001.

Regional heats will be held early next year and winners will go through to the UK final, which will take place in June.
