A bargain rail travel promotion has led to an award for the Aberdeen Press and Journal.
The newspaper’s circulation department came first in the “best in-paper promotional activity to drive base sales” competition for its idea, which allowed readers to travel anywhere in Scotland for £12.
The Press and Journal was also runner-up in the “best external promotional activity” category for its Taste of Grampian event, which attracted 8,000 people.
The awards were given by Northcliffe Newspapers, owners of Aberdeen Journals, in a ceremony which took place in Coventry.
Promotions manager Susan Lair said: “We are over the moon because every Northcliffe newspaper enters these awards.
“It is the first time we entered and we won both – we’re delighted, though it’s all down to teamwork.”
