Journalism students to get real-time radio experience

Steve TaylorJournalism students are to gain real-time broadcasting experience after a community radio station was granted a licence.

University of Northampton students will get the experience at NNBC, based in the town, after Ofcom granted the station a five-year community radio licence.

NNBC is due to begin broadcasting by the end of the year and Steve Taylor, the university’s acting dean of the school of the arts, has welcomed the new partnership.

Steve, pictured above left, said: “NNBC presents a fantastic opportunity for the university.

“We have students specialising in radio, journalism and broadcasting who will all benefit from experience of working in the real world.”

Earlier this month, HTFP reported the university’s multimedia journalism degree received accreditation from the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.
