Weekly reporter to undertake first run for charity

A reporter on a weekly newspaper will undertake her first-ever 5k run for charity.

Scarlett Hills-Brooks, who was initially hired by Tindle Newspapers as part of its apprenticeships drive, will take part in the Race for Life in Plymouth this June.

Scarlett, pictured, works for the Cornish Times, based in Liskeard, and the Cornish and Devon Post.

The Race for Life challenge raises funds for Cancer Research UK.

Scarlett told the Times: “I decided to take on this run because I’ve never been much of a runner but it’s something I’ve always been interested in doing.”

The Plymouth 5k route will take place on 2 June. It will start and finish on the Hoe promenade, adjacent to Smeaton’s Tower.
