A weekly newspaper has celebrated an international sporting victory for its patch with a special edition.
The St Helens Star covered the St Helens rugby league side’s victory in the World Club Challenge.
The club won the contest after defeating Australia’s Penrith Panthers 13-12 in Sydney.
It was the third time the club, nicknamed the Saints, had won the trophy.
The Star splashed on the occasion last week, declaring the team ‘The Greatest’. It was accompanied by a 16-page souvenir pullout inside the paper.
The Saints have now begun the defence of their title in the Super League, the primary completion for clubs in Europe.
