Reporter makes ‘cross-London’ switch to take up new LDR role

Ben LynchA regional journalist has made a cross-London switch to take up a new role on the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme.

Ben Lynch has left National World-owned London World to become the LDR with Reach plc’s MyLondon, covering the central and west patch of Hammersmith and Fulham, City of London, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.

Having started out working for the High & Ham and then the Romford Recorder, Ben joined National World earlier this year as Local Democracy Reporter.

Among the key stories that he covered during that time were an ongoing series of articles on an estate caught in the midst of the cladding scandal, the effectiveness of scrutiny in the council, and the ULEZ extension.

Ben, pictured, posted his news on social media platform ‘X’ last week.

He wrote: “Some work news: Today I’ve started as an LDR reporter at MyLondon! While it was no fun saying goodbye to the team at LondonWorld, I can’t wait to properly get my teeth stuck into my new central/west London patch.”

He told HTFP: “It was tough leaving the excellent team at LondonWorld, but the prospect of joining MyLondon as part of the LDR scheme was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I can’t wait to get started.”

Prior to working in journalism, Ben spent several years in marketing and advertising, working at agencies both in London and New Zealand, as well as a stint as a content designer at the New Zealand government.
