Reporter and columnist bids farewell to dailies after 11 years

Sophie WyllieA reporter and columnist has said farewell to two sister dailies after more than a decade of service.

Sophie Wyllie has announced her departure from the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News, where she has worked since 2011, to join ITV Anglia as a production journalist.

She previously worked for the Lynn News, where she began her career in 2009.

Sophie, pictured, announced in a farewell column for the Evening News that she is moving to a “new challenge in my working life”.

In the column, she wrote: “I know I appear a bit grumpy, miserable and stingy, because of my love of free or low cost activities for my children – including visiting Pets at Home rather than pay for the zoo and exploring Mousehold Heath – but in truth I am a happy person.

“If you have not enjoyed my columns, I appreciate that, because it is good for people to have different opinions but I hope my thoughts have entertained or enlightened you over the past few months.

“I have loved working as a news reporter for the Evening News, EDP and its sister weeklies for more than 11 years and am proud to have worked for papers and websites which champion their communities.

“But it is time to have a new challenge in my working life.”
