Scotland’s only pro–independence daily focused on the pride of Humza Yousaf’s parents as their son won the Scottish National Party leadership race.
Newsquest’s Glasgow-based title The National hailed the history made by Mr Yousaf’s victory, noting he is now on course to become the first Muslim First Minister.
On its front page, The National showed the reaction of his parents after it was announced he had beaten rivals Kate Forbes and Ash Regan.
However, other Scottish dailies took a different view of yesterday’s result, noting the new SNP leader will be taking on a “divided” party following the resignation of his predecessor Nicola Sturgeon.
In Edinburgh, The Scotsman noted Mr Yousaf will now face an “uphill battle” accompanied by an image of him with his defeated contenders.
A similar image was used by The National’s sister daily The Herald.
But the Dundee Courier chose to focus on Mr Yousaf’s victory speech and his fresh pledge for independence.
