Liverpool Echo editor joins SoE conference line-up

Maria BreslinMore leading industry names have been announced as part of the line-up for the forthcoming Society of Editors’ Future of News conference.

The year’s biggest industry gathering is due to take place on 15 March at London’s Leonardo Royal Hotel, near Tower Bridge.

Newly-announced panellists include Maria Breslin, left, editor of the Liverpool Echo.

Maria will join Daily Mirror editor Alison Phillips and on an Editors’ Panel focusing on the future of news and combating threats to journalism.

Other new names include Gabriel Pogrund, Whitehall editor of the Sunday Times, who will join a panel looking at politics, policing, power and policy and how the news media holds power to account.

As previously announced, the Daily Telegraph’s Camilla Tominey will lead a session on royal reporting while Nic Newman, Senior Research Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, will discuss the latest findings from its annual report into journalism trends

Other conference themes will include data and demographics; attracting new audiences; adapting content across platforms; local democracy, diversity and inclusion and mental health in the newsroom.

Further panellists and keynote speakers will be announced in due course alongside the recipient of a special fellowship award for outstanding contribution to journalism.
