Journalism students could get the chance to work with an international football transfer expert thanks to one of their trainers.

Angus Scott has pledged to help University of Winchester students get experience on The Debrief podcast, which he presents every Monday with renowned Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Angus, who began his career in local news, teaches journalism part-time at Winchester in addition to his duties as a national broadcaster and with and The Debrief, which launched in June.

He hopes students can be involved in editing and planning the programme as well as “phone-bashing” – calling around to find guests and contributors.

Angus, pictured, said: “This is such a vocational course and I want to bring the students on board with what I do in the profession.”

He added: “It’s a hugely competitive market but there is a huge appetite for football news and debate.

“When we aren’t watching the game, we’re talking about it.”
