Group-wide SEO boss takes redundancy in publisher’s cuts

Andrew QuinnAn editorial chief who held a group-wide SEO role at a cuts-hit regional publisher has taken voluntary redundancy.

Andrew Quinn has announced his departure from National World, where he was most recently deputy group live editor as part of the company’s search engine optimisation team.

Andrew, pictured, previously worked for the Derry Journal and the Belfast News Letter during his 16 years of service with National World and its forerunners.

He is the latest senior departure from the group after a series of compulsory and voluntary redundancies were revealed in recent weeks.

Posting on Twitter, Andrew wrote: “If the next 16 years of my career as a journalist are as good as the last 16, I’ll be very, very lucky. I’ve decided to take voluntary redundancy and leave National World.

“Derry and the Derry Journal is where my heart will always be. The memories I have of working as a local journalist for around a decade will stay with me forever.

“Working for the Journal has had a massive impact on my life. I enjoyed my time with the News Letter and the team there were amazing to work with.”

Andrew went on to praise National World SEO colleagues Katie Brooks, Jamie Jones and Katie Clark, with whom he has worked since 2021.

He added: “I’m so excited about what the future will bring but sad to be leaving behind so many amazing friends and colleagues.

“I’m on gardening leave until October. It’s time to take a risk, roll the dice and see what’s out there.

“I’m spending the summer being a full-time daddy to energetic six and three-year-old girls – wish me luck.”
