Former sports editor returns to weekly where he spent decade

Paul RogersA former sports editor has returned in a reporting role to a weekly newspaper where he previously worked for a decade.

The Hereford Times has welcomed back its old head of sports content Paul Rogers as he takes up a new digital reporter post.

Paul left the Times in 2018 and has since worked in various roles outside the regional press industry.

He returned to journalism last year, joining Gloucestershire Live as a senior reporter.

Paul, pictured, told the Times: “I’m delighted to be back at the Hereford Times and to get stuck into the stories that I know matter to people.

“I made a lot of contacts during my first stint at the paper, and I’m looking forward to making many more.”

Paul began his career with the Times in 2008 and was promoted to his sportsdesk role six years later.

He left in 2018 to become editor of Leominster-based specialist magazine Intelligent CIO Africa, then had a spell working for supermarket Morrisons during the coroanvirus pandemic.

Paul joined Herefordshire Council in June 2021 as a press and publicity officer, before moving to Gloucestershire Live 12 months later.
